Open to anyone in years 10 -13 but we welcome keen applicants from outside this year bracket.
Enter individually or in a team of up to six.
One person will need to be brave and volunteer to lead the team and manage the fundraising.
There is no limit to the amount of fundraising events you undertake.

Firstly register here online, and start to brainstorm that all important fundraising idea. It’s as much ‘how you fundraise’ as ‘how much you raise’. As soon as you register you can start fundraising until the second stage deadline.

You will need to record all your experiences and fundraising adventures in ‘Snapshots Project’ which is a bit like a scrap book, to be sent into the Wings of Hope and should include:

The Fundraising ideas and activities (show pictures, diaries maybe even videos).
Role of each team member.
Any evidence of your fundraising e.g. Letters of support or rejection, maybe you even got some press coverage.
How did you raise awareness about the work of the charity?
Overall skills you have learnt and developed.
Money that you have collected during your projects as a cheque
Gift aid forms signed by your donors (so remember to get these signed during your fundraising). Gift aid means that without you having to do anything, for every £1 that is donated by a UK taxpayer, the government will give the charity 28p - for free!
A reference letter from your parents and your teacher. NB: The teacher's letter is per group.

The report can be sent in on any format whether it is a scrap book, video or even an online blog, and should highlight your creativity and innovation in presentation.

You will need to send everything in along with a Snapshots Submission Form to reach us by the deadline.

From all the Snapshots Projects we receive, the Wings of Hope judges will make a shortlist of Semi-finalists. The short-listed teams/individuals will be invited for a five minute presentation at the House of Lords in front of our distinguished panel, with a short question and answer session at the end. The judges will choose their top teams/individuals and these will be announced at the Annual Awards Ceremony.

The Annual Awards Ceremony is a fun filled, glitzy evening in celebration of all the hard work and efforts of everyone that has taken part in WOHAA.. The overall winners of WOHAA receive their amazing prize of a trip to a far flung corner of the world. This will all take place at a top London venue with all the Wings of Hope volunteers, patrons, and associates attending, as well as hundreds of WOHAA participants, teachers and parents from across the country!

Don’t be scared this isn’t the X-Factor. The judging panel is a group of people like yourselves who want to help others and have fun doing it. The panel includes influential figures from business, journalism, politics and drama such as Deborah Meaden from Dragon’s Den, BBC News presenters and Sir David Jason, who chaired the panel last year.

Sir David Jason

Famous for his roles in Only Fools and Horses, and Frost. A true British icon, he has become one of the most loved TV stars of all time. In 2006 he was voted by the general public as Britain’s favourite TV star. His varied roles from being “Del-boy” in Only Fools and Horses, to being the serious inspector in Frost show his remarkable and diverse talents. Sir David has been our chief panellist in WOHAA from the start, and got involved with the Wings of Hope after being touched by the story of one of the orphaned children who this charity supports. We at the Wings of Hope are very grateful for him and Lady Gill for giving their time so generously.

LORD AND LADY DHOLAKIA

Founder Patrons of the charity, Lord and Lady Dholakia have been integral to the growth of the Wings of Hope. Lord Dholakia is one of the most respected leaders of not only his party, the Liberal Democrats, but of other parties too. Lord Dholakia a patron to over 100 charities but really treasures the Wings of Hope. As deputy leader of the Lib Dems he is one of the most accoladed Lords today, and is also one of the first Asians to attain a peerage.

ROBERT PESTON – BBC Business Editor

Robert Peston, the BBC’s Business Editor, is probably most known now for being one of the first journalists to report on the credit crunch. After he left Oxford, he quickly rose through the ranks as City editor for the Sunday Telegraph, and Editor of the Financial Times. His many accolades include the Harold Wincott Journalist of the Year Award.

LORD MCNALLY – Leader of the Liberal Democrats in the House of Lords

Lord McNally’s political career started from when he was elected Student Union president at the University College London. Since then, it has been a non-stop journey to the pinnacles of British politics. For example, in 2004 Lord McNally was elected as leader of the Liberal Democrats in the House of Lords.

DEBORAH MEADEN – Entrepreneur and Dragon’s Den Judge

As the only female panellist in this series, she gives the other dragons a run for their money. Her shrewd, insightful and often feisty style has led to her not only develop brands like the YouDoo doll from Dragons’s Den, but has also meant making a large impact on the leisure and retail industry. Now passionate about developing investment opportunities she has taken a particular interest in environmental issues

DEB THOMAS - Director, ARUP

Deb Thomas is a Director at Arup, a global engineering design and consulting firm. One of Deb’s first projects was the ITN Headquarters in London, and the Citibank building at Canary Wharf. Arup were instrumental in the, Beijing Olympics stadium, “The Bird’s Nest”, The Gherkin and Millennium Bridge in London, designed by Sir Norman Foster.

ADRIAN CHILES - BBC Presenter

As the Most Watched British presenter in 2008 with a cumulative audience of over 1 billion viewers, Adrian is no stranger to dealing with candiates under pressure as presenter of BBC's Apprentice: You're Fired! An avid football fan, Chiles has also presented Match of the Day 2 and is now seen daily presenting 'The One Show' on BBC 1

ABHA THORAT SHAH - Director, British Asian Trust

Abha is the Director of the British Asian Trust. The Trust exists to build bridges between the British Asian Community and charitable organisations in South Asia. A graduate of Cambridge University, Abha was formerly the Chief Operating Officer at the UK India Business Council.

MICHAEL REBELO - Managing Director, Saatchi and Saatchi

Michael Rebelo took up the post of M.D. of Saatchi and Saatchi London in June 2008, with responsibility for driving new business across the agency. Michael has been with Saatchi and Saatchi for over 11 years, bringing them some of the highest accolades in the industry.

GWYN BURR - Senior Director, J Sainsbury

Gwyn Burr is Customer Director of J Sainsbury, responsible for teh vast areas of marketing, communications and customer service. With over 20 years of business experience under her belt, Gwyn also chairs the Cause Related Business Leadership Team at BITC, guiding their work on community and charity partnerships.

RAJNI SRIRAM & DR R S RAM – Co-Founders of the Wings of Hope

Mrs. Rajni Sriram and Dr R S Ram as Co-Founders of the charity, have seen the Wings of Hope Achievement Award, evolve into a household name amongst students. They are extremely pleased to see such good progress, but are keen for more students from all backgrounds in the UK to get involved in the WOHAA. Dr R S Ram is also the Chairman of the Supreme Group which is the UK's largest manufacturer of eco-friendly bags and promotional items. The bags are made for some of the UK's top brands such as Tesco, The Co-Operative, Debenhams and Boots

JACKIE COOPER –Vice Chair, Edelman

Jackie Cooper, Vice Chair, Edelman. She has embarked upon transforming the images of several household brands, coining phrases such as “that’ll be a Daewoo” for the Daewoo car, Green-Peace’s Anti-Fur Campaign and the famous “real women” Dove campaign. Her time in the image and PR glitterati has landed her with helping brand the Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen twins clothing brands to the Marks & Spencers campaigns with Claire Sweeney.

PETER LOVATT – Vice Chariman of Saatchi & Saatchi

Peter Lovatt is Vice-chairman of the legendary Saatchi & Saatchi – the ideas and advertising agency. Peter has been at the helm of some of the advertising industry’s most catalytic campaigns: from Old El Peso, Altoid Mints and the Green Giant to the signature Carlsberg campaigns. Perhaps his most poignant campaign has been with Chip and Pin which has helped more than 40 million people embrace this change.

MALCOLM LANE - Director Tata Consultancy Services

Malcolm Lane is Director of Corporate Affairs at Tata Consultancy Service. This means he is responsible for helping manage one of India’s best known companies - Tata. Tata have recently broken records by producing the world’s cheapest car – “the Tata Nano”. As such, of late Tata has achieved staggering growth and has achieved a staggering revenue of $4bn. The Consultancy practice is one of the largest in the world

MATTHEW AMROLIWALLA – BBC News 24 Presenter

Matthew is a familiar face on BBC News 24. After leaving Durham with a Law and Politics degree, he became a chartered accountant, and then joined the BBC in 1990. He has covered extensively for News 24, in Bosnia, Northern Ireland, during the Gulf War, and 9/11 in New York.

MANSOOR ALI KHAN – Former Indian cricket captain

Educated at Winchester and then at Oxford, the Nawab at the tender age of 21 was selected as captain on the Indian cricket team. He captained 14 matches – one of which was the first overseas victory for India against New Zealand. Now involved in politics he has been accolade with the Indian Arjuna Award. His wife, Sharmila Tagore (our International Ambassador) is one of Bollywood’s most famous actresses. His son and daughter (Saif Ali Khan and Soha Ali Khan) have excelled in acting in the Indian film industry with many awards between them.

BARONESS SCOTT – President of the Liberal Democrats

Baroness Scott is one of the youngest female peers. She is a great supporter of the Wings of Hope. She is also a member of the UK Delegation to the European Commission.

STEVE DUNCAN - Executive Chairman, Boots Alliance

Steven Duncan was appointed Executive Chairman, Heath and Beauty, in July 2007, having previously been Community Pharmacy Director. Steve also spent time at Harvard Business School in the USA.

STEPHEN HOWARD - CEO, Business in the Community

Stephen Howard is the Chief Executive of Business in the Community, a unique movement of 800 companies promoting responsible business and founded by HRH Prince Charles. Stephen joined BITC as MD in 2005, following 8 years as a supporter and national partner of BITC's Business Action on Homeless Initiative, helping some of the most disadvantaged groups in London.

MARTIN BEAUMONT - Ex CEO, The Co-operative Group.

Martin Beaumont has recently stepped down as CEO of The Co operative Group, a company through which he has been instrumental in creating value and making a change for the better. A countryman at heart, Martin now keeps his own sheep on a small holding.

WOHAA is associated with some of the world’s most renowned companies which help support the work of the charity and provide a unique element to the WOHAA scheme.

These include PricewaterhouseCoopers, one of the world’s largest professional services organisations, who will be hosting a series of skills workshops for participating students of WOHAA throughout the year. The workshops will introduce you to the commercial world in addition to building CV writing skills and interview techniques. Edelman, the world's largest PR company will also be hosting a workshop on Public Relations and the Media. We also run law workshops for students which will take place - along with the PricewaterhouseCoopers and Edleman workshops - during half term breaks.

A WOHAA certificate for those teams/individuals that complete the award scheme which will add a prestigious element to CVs and UCAS forms. For IB schools, WOHAA fits in perfectly with the CAS programme.
WOHAA fulfills the service part of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
The top 25 teams/individuals have the opportunity to present their projects at the House of Lords to our distinguished judging panel, and our winners will have their moment in the spotlight at the glitzy Annual Awards Ceremony to receive their trophies.
The winning teams/individuals of WOHAA will get the amazing opportunity of work experience at world renowned companies such as Saatchi & Saatchi, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Edelman, Tata Consultancy Services, ARUP and Boots. The work experience will take place at their UK offices during school summer holidays. Read about the feedback from winners here.
The overall winners announced at the Annual Award Ceremony will actually go out to one of the educational projects in India or Malawi on an all expenses paid trip. The students will get a chance to see the delights of unique cultures and experience first hand the life changing work Wings of Hope achieves through their fundraising efforts.
